What a delightful experience I have had with Dr. Rook Torres, a Wellness Chiropractor. I felt very comfortable from the very first moment! I was having over twenty severe attacks of trigeminal neuralgia a day when I went for help to Dr. Torres. Trigeminal neuralgia (tic douloureux) is a disorder of the 5th cranial verve in which a blood vessel in my head, rubs against a "raw" nerve in which the myelin sheath around it has been worn away at that point causing episodes of intense, stabbing, electric shock-like pain in the areas of the face where the branches of the nerve are distributed; eye, cheek, and jaw. The result is a very severe facial pain that comes on totally unexpectedly, lasts about ten seconds, and then leaves with no physical after effects.
My neurologist gave me a drug to lessen the pain which was a definite relief, but the side effects were dizziness and drowsiness. As one friend stated, "You seem to have something on your mind." I took a major trip across the country and slept through two engagements I had planned. So I returned home determined to find a better help.
Dr. Torres was referred to me through my son and daughter-in-law, so I gratefully went for help, but not knowing what to expect. The focus on wellness was very encouraging to me. The idea being that when my body is in-line structurally and adjusted, everything in my body has a chance to work correctly, and my body will actually heal itself with proper nutrition and care.
After bed rest and my first visit to Dr. Torres, the attacks dropped in frequency from 20 to 4! This was extremely encouraging to me! I went for daily adjustments. In 2 weeks, the attacks stopped completely! And this continued for a week. I have stopped taking my medication.
I am deeply grateful to Dr. Torres for "shaping me up" so that my body can function correctly. Four years previously, the car in which I was riding was rear ended, calling for chiropractic care which I received in part. So, in summary, this experience with Dr. Torres has been totally positive. One of the few known facts about trigeminal neuralgia is that the attacks may come and go throughout the day and last for days, weeks, or months at a time, and then disappear for months or years. So I intend to stay under Dr. Torres's care sot that perhaps these reoccurring attacks will be prevented. - Jo W.
John Smith - Back Pain Sufferer
I know there is so much controversy between chiropractic and medical care, but if it were not for chiropractic I would still be in pain. A car accident left me with constant lower back pain. I tried everything from painkillers to preparing to have surgery. I heard stories from my friends who had surgery and to this day wish they never had it. So I decided to go to a chiropractor before the surgery and I am so thankful that I did. My back pains are gone and I am living my life to the fullest and pain free.
